Around the 24th of Feb. I started having problems with the software crashing as I was working. I would save things & then start working again & it would crash & this has been going on since then. There were no Microsoft updates done at the time so I can'tblame it on that.Any ideas what might have happened & why or how to fix it.I also noticed the other day that when I did updates it shows the wrong time for when the modification was made. As an example.
I made a modification at 5:00 & it shows the modification was done at 6:00. I checked the settings on my computer & it's set forthe right time & it automatically changes for daylight savings time. This just started happening a few days ago.Any help would be appreciated. I have not re-installed it yet due to lack of time but that is the next thing I will do. As for updates, the last update that was available was in September 2016 & no updates have come out since then. By modification I mean I was working with EW & making changes on some of the pages (editing).
I don't even know where to begin to troubleshoot on my own. I was given a phone number at Microsoft to talk to a tech that might be able to help but I spent a couple of hours on the phone yesterday with Microsoft support for an Outlook issue & didn't havetime to call the number she gave me for EW assistance. I do know that a couple of other people on the Expressions web forum were having the same problem & it started for them at the same time as for me so I'm wondering if an update might have impacted it. The only update around the time it started was an Adobeupdate. There were no Microsoft updates during the time we thought the issue started. It's easy to point fingers at other applications or antivirus software but if EW4 was working fine with them for years it should have nothing to do with it.With every Windows update or upgrade comes problems with other software.It's crazy that it would impact another Microsoft program but that is the only link. It is the only thing that changes & with each upgrade & update comes more problems with other software.There are other people who are having the same problems with EW4 suddenly after a Windows update.
They are probably not on this group but they are on the EW group & experiencing the same thing I am.Instead of pointing fingers elsewhere how about 'we' be sure that the updates are fully tested BEFORE publishing them. I've never had so many problems with a PC before Windows 10 came out & the Windows 10 updates & upgrades. With each update & upgrades morethings get screwed up. I cannot begin to tell you how many hours I have spent on the phone with Microsoft, Brother, Apple, ASUS, etc. But I have kept files of each & every phone call & reported problem & what the source of the problem was. All problems thatturned out to be due to a Windows 10 update or upgrade.I'm not alone in thinking life was a whole lot better before Windows 10 came out!!!And yes, I'm pointing fingers but I'm pointing them at the source of these problems.Microsoft & Windows 10 in particular. I too am having a problem ever since a recent Windows 10 update.
Expression Design 4
Expression Web 4 shows on my taskbar but will not open on the monitor screen. Everything indicates EW is running, but it will not show on the screen. I have tried uninstalling and re-installingit but that did not fix. I've never run two monitors, but tried those two fixes anyway, without success. Any ideas or feedback would be appreciated because I too can no longer edit my website.FOLLOW UP: I tried something else and it worked, so perhaps this will solve problems others are having as well.
I went to Device Manager and then Display Adapters. I right-clicked on NVIDIA and selected 'Update Driver'. It searched for and found newdrivers. Once the drivers were installed EW made a comeback!
I'm almost embarrassed to admit, but it was dumb luck that I figured it out because honestly I don't even know what a driver is. But it worked, so for me that's all that matters.
