Obviously he had a fair amount of inspiration to go off of but Tynan has done a fantastic job making Rimworld an amazing game in its own right that stands completely independent from its Dwarf Fortress heritage, the fact that it has the kind of modding support that it does means it will be one of those games that I'll be coming back to time and time again. I read some guy vouch for melee dude in a door with shooters behind for infestations.Honestly, when I had drop pods, I just scrambled to kill them asap since I didn't want significant collateral damage. So just positioned my dudes at doors, then opened them all at once. The drop pod forces were significantly weaker than a typical raid (like 3 scythers drop pod vs 12 scythers walking in).One thing the got me though, was that I paused the game while the drop ships were midair. Mis-estimated their landing to be left of my main buildings and moved my troops.

After being confused, I realized they landed to the right of my main buildings. I was too used to the trajectory of the crashlanding resources.I suppose you could plan your base around it, just sandboxes and IEDs scattered around. I mean you should scatter firefoam poppers around once components are bountiful anyways. There's such a crazy amount of mods snd interactions possible where every run feels truly different. I recently started a heavily modded colony I've had sieges from slavers, chaos marines, the RAF, Tau. Ive ridden into battle on alpacas to siege an ork encampment with WW2 era howitzers I built. It's a very good game. After all this time playing since it entered esrly access it is consistently entertaining.

My SO also plays it and we talk so much about the crazy things that happen in our colonies. And I honestly can't praise the game enough. You should 100% try it out and consider buying it, you really will not regret it.

This is the second release of the mod for RimWorld Beta 19. This release includes fixes for missing backstories and missing hair customizations. As always with new releases:. I strongly recommend that if you are re-saving presets after making changes with this release, that you save them as new files with a different name instead of overwriting the existing presets.

This will guarantee that any bugs in this release will not corrupt your favorite preset. You can expect some mod compatibility issues. This will not work with the Beta 18 version of the game. You must be running at least version 0.19.2009 of the game to use this test release of mod.Don't attempt to install this release if you're not comfortable with manual installs of RimWorld mods. Wait instead for the final version of the mod release to come out, after which your mod will auto-update via Steam Workshop. To install:. Download the EdBPrepareCarefully-0.19.9.zip file.

Ignore the 'Source Code' links. You don't need those if you're just trying to install the mod. Find your RimWorld Mods directory. Extract the contents of the downloaded zip into the Mods directory. Make sure that you don't accidentally 'double-extract' the contents. You should have a Mods/EdBPrepareCarefully directory, not a Mods/EdBPrepareCarefully/EdBPrepareCarefully directory. If you're using Steam, be sure to disable the workshop version of the mod if you've subscribed to it.

It's important that you only have the Beta 19 version of the mod enabled when playing version Beta 19 and that you only have the Beta 18 version of the mod enabled when you're playing Beta 18. By doing this manual install, you'll need to remember to remove it later when the workshop version is updated for version Beta 19.
