Romans:Ceasar; Ranged units = Javelins, Archers, ArtilleryGermanicus = Heavy Roman Infantry, any really, though tier 6 legionaires smash most t6-t10 Greek infantry with ease (mostly due to Vengeance)Scipio = Cavalry generalGreeks:Alexander = Cavalry general or can be used to highly ♥♥♥♥ of people with Anvil (40 seconds not able to use any skills for enemy should be fixed, way to long) using infantryLeonidas = Unbeatalbe in early tiers but easily outmatched in later tiers due to Germanicus' OP'ness. Still a solid defensive generalMiltiades = Infantry General with strong offensive capabilities. Though arguably Germanicus is better for offense and the only real reason to use Miltiades is unblockable Fear. All in all, Roman infantry dominates the higher tiers whilst Greek infantry dominates the lower tiers. Thorax Hoplites are par with Roman infantry of the same tier though Principes have the edge on them.Once you get higher tier, the Greek infantry starts to lose ground quickly and will not recover it untill atleast tier 9-10. Though I can't confirm it since I've had one my Legionaires (tier 6) beat the living ♥♥♥♥ out of Tier 9 Sacred Band without breaking a sweat, needless to say, that's something that needs to be adressed! I can't say anything about other high end greek infantry since I generally treat them as easily beat by Legionaires. On to missiles, Romans have the javelins and later on, premium archers.
Whilst the Greeks have acces to Archers, Slingers and Peltasts (Javelins). The distinct disadvantage of Jav against archers = range. Though, once again, later tiers this shifts and the need for archers get's less and the need for javelins get higher. Once again attributed to the Heavy Roman infantry.Cavalry then, this the Greeks win by miles! Tier 5 Equites have nothing on Tier 4 Citizen Cavalry, let alone Companion and Aspis Cavalry. Don't get me wrong. I haven't been able to get on to the Legionaire Cavalry (t7) so I can't speak for any higher tiered cavalry.
Rome Leaders in Total War: Arena Total War Arena Guide & Walkthrough. Post Comment. If you want to invest in him, you should first unlock units at least to tier 3 and quickly promote this commander with free experience to that tier. Early you should assign Infantry to him, then you can enjoy him as a good commander for the Cavalry.
But all in all the Greeks have the advantage on this end, at least Mid-Tier. Once again, I can't say anything about High tier cavalry. Though, it is mostly dominated by Greek cavalry since they have the Cataphracts available. Not worh to using with cav, you can use oath but you units will die to fast in game, also its to hight chance to be feared in game.Greeks:Alexander = Cav, Archers ( + - 1 units spears to use his skills )Leonidas = Pikes. For me he is to weak, its to easy to read what he skills is using, he can show himself on 10/20% of battles nothing more or vs newbies.Miltiades = Cav / Light spears / Medium Spears. Sometimes Pikes but only for drop them and use to have higher dmg.TL:DR:Romans:Heavy InfantryArtJavelinsGreeceArchersCavPikes/Spears.

Though, it is mostly dominated by Greek cavalry since they have the Cataphracts available.I dont know, Scipio is pretty good in a infantry fight because of his Oath ability. And Miltiades can drop shield, a risky move but every good.

I read a thread on here yesterday saying that they were underpowered.Nah, cavalry are fine as they are as long as you use them the way they're supposed to be used. Don't bother with ranged cavalry since they're bugged and get killed before they kill something themself. They are usefull for scouting purposes so they benefit arty and ranged + they are devestating to arty and ranged.
Played decently and you can get up to 600-700 experience per match. Originally posted by:Thanks for the answers! So, romans have the advantage in nearly everything but the cavalry? Is it worth playing cavalry? I read a thread on here yesterday saying that they were underpowered.i don't understand why you talking about ' romans have the advantage in nearly everything'it almost if you wasn't read this topic. Both fractions have weak and good sides, on few tiers.Read answers againAbout cav,It is quite hard question. ( Worh of playing )We should here analyze both trees army from fractions with tiers.Check excatly what they have eq when heavy units, when someone was talking on forum that unit is to slow. ( check new patches)And when we could have most of data to compare both + and - for commanders.
And answer you.Nope, no one will answer that for you to many patches will come to compare this on alpha game, everyting can be changed.Greece have cav comanders Miltiades AND Miltiades, Roman empire: Ceasar and ScipioRest you can read about that commanders on forum on here, its more like if he understand how use that unit and how many times in battles he can use that skills:p.
